wouldnt that mean we'd have to have unique names? is this gonna be based on tribeChat handles?

exactly limbo- tribeChat handles are what we will use for your chat name, your url, and perhaps one day your tribe mail address. This last one is not on the product roadmap at the moment, but it is something that comes up from time to time.

One debate that we have been having is whether people should be able to change their tribe chat handle, and thus their URL. It would be best if this was disallowed, in the interest of keeping links and such in tact. However, as you know, many people like to change their profiles around quite frequently.

if you give users the option to change their URL and they choose to exercise that option, then whatever links get broken are their "fault" and they should take that into account when making said change. this is opposed to changes made by the system that are not as explicit (change of pic offset when deleting a picture for example) and are therefore naughty.

PS. i'm not sure if this is the place for techie-ish conversation but i just cant help myself :)
